GINDER PROMOTED TO SERGEANT
Roger Ginder became the newest Sergeant for the Guilderland Police Department on December 16th at a ceremony at the Town Hall. He was sworn in by Supervisor Ken Runion.
Ginder joined the department in 1990 as a dispatcher. He was hired as a police officer in 1994, Since then he has worked in the departments Youth Services Division for most of his career having recently working at the Farnsworth Middle School as a the School Resource Officer.
He takes the place of Officer Don Jones who recently stepped down from the position to continue the K-9 program with the department's new K-9, Rocky.
GUILDERLAND BURGLARY ALERT
The
Guilderland Police Department issued a press release on November 25th in
reference to a rash of burglaries in town. All residents are being asked
to be alert for yourself and your neighbors.
The break ins have occurred to residences during the daytime over the past few weeks in the Fort Hunter and Settles Hill area of the town. In these cases, residents have returned home and discovered their house had been broken into. Access by the perpetrator has been by forcing in a door, usually causing significant damage. Subsequently, items have been stolen from inside.
This Guilderland Police put out the alert to make the public aware of this activity. They are reminding residents to lock doors and utilize burglar alarm systems if available. Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately by calling Guilderland Police at 356-1501 or 911 in an emergency.
FUNK NAMED SENIOR INVESTIGATOR
Investigator Tom Funk was named the Guilderland Police Department's new Senior Investigator November 1, 2008. Funk has been an officer with the department since 1994, and has been in the Criminal Investigations Unit since 2000.
